Lindsay Lohan - PlayBoy Magazine (January 2012) #11

These pictures are just…I mean, her body looks nice even though her nipples look kinda photoshopped in some of them — I just don’t understand the logic of doing Playboy in a last ditch attempt to get some publicity and then doing the photo shoot as an ‘homage’ and/or ‘cheap imitation’ of someone who you have ALREADY DONE NUMEROUS PHOTO SHOOTS imitating before!

strawberry swing: omg there's just too much racist wank over at the BWE message boards on imdb regarding Chalky. ›

  • ok his family is not “uppity” (people still say that??) - they are educated. part of the whole dilemma stems from the fact that Chalky has tried so hard to provide for his family and make sure that they are educated and brought up with all the things that he himself did not have when he was…

No, there was alot of black on black racism and classicism in that scene. They were trying to impress her light-skinned boyfriend in order to marry into his family so that their social status was more legitimate. This shit goes all the way back to slavery and has happened in many of our own families.

You’ll never understand how infuriating those uppity mfs and their bullshit is until you’ve been a working/lower class black person with medium to dark skin tone and hair that isn’t “good” surrounded by a bunch of bougie condescending assholes.

Sincerely,

A Field Nigger

Oh, I’m not so much taking into account what happened in the scene so much as I was making the point that I don’t think it’s okay for people (white people, specifically, though I have no idea of knowing if these people who made the posts on IMDB were white or not) on imdb to classify his family as “uppity” because to me for someone to refer to an African-American family or person out of the context of the show in that fashion and in this day and age is inappropriate. Uppity to me has a different connotation than, say, ‘snobby’ or ‘condescending’. I definitely understand that there are different dynamics within the races which is I think the point that the show has always illustrated well — as a white girl I don’t pretend to be able to represent the views of anyone else who has been affected by or experienced that kind of prejudice within their own race, I was honestly speaking more to the fact that people on the IMDB message boards for this show seem to think that it’s okay to throw around the racial slurs that are used on the show (mick, wop, guinea, shine, darky, etc.) in their discussions of the show. Not to say that those kinds of slang were ever “okay” but within the context of the show you could at least argue that it was much more common and socially acceptable to use those sorts of terms in an everyday setting.

I definitely understand that point you’re trying to make, though and I appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. I’m sorry if my OP offended you in any way!

You’re a human being, you live once and life is wonderful, so eat the damn red velvet cupcake.

Emma Stone | On the pressure to be thin in Hollywood (via tulletulle)

I first read that as “you’re a human cupcake”… still thought it was genius.

Great in theory, but last time I checked Emma Stone was rail thin and dyed her hair some ungodly shade of blonde. So. I’m not quite the stan for her that the rest of tumblr seems to be.
